尽管世界各地都在忙着举办歌迷投票活动，预备发行迈克尔·杰克逊生日庆典专辑《流行音乐之王》（King Of Pop）。但美国本土却将没有此类发行的消息。取而代之的是，美国的索尼BMG将于8月28日发行一套三CD的限量套装，叫《世纪典藏3.0》（The Essential Michael Jackson 3.0）。
这张美国版新精选将由原先2005年版的《世纪典藏》（双CD）和一张新发行的附加CD组成。第三张附加CD的内容包括：
1. 《Can't Get Outta The Rain》 - 《The Girl Is Mine》(Epic 34-03288)、《Billie Jean》(Epic 34-03509)和《Thriller》(Epic 34-04364)单曲卡带的B面附歌；
2. 《Say, Say, Say》 - 保罗·麦特卡尼（Paul McCartney）和杰克逊在1982年合作的第二首歌，当年的冠军曲。发表保罗的《和平之笛》专辑（Pipes of Peace）。该曲之前从来没有在杰克逊的精选辑里发行过；
3. 《Jam》 - 发表于《危险》（Dangerous）专辑。流行榜第26位，R&B榜第三位；
4. 《They Don't Care About Us》 - 录制于1995年，发表于《他的历史》专辑（HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book 1），流行榜第30位，R&B榜第10位，有Slash和Trevor Rabin的吉他伴奏；

7. 《Butterflies》 - 录制于2001年，发表于《无敌》专辑（Invincible） 流行榜第14位，R&B榜第2位；
