当年，在听过由黄色魔法管弦乐团表演的《面具之后》后，迈克尔·杰克逊与坂本龙一取得联系，征询许可为这首歌填词。
这首歌由迈克尔·杰克逊、 Chris Mosdell和坂本龙一创作，后由迈克尔·杰克逊和约翰·麦克莱恩共同制作。
这曲《面具背后》也能听到黄色魔法管弦乐团演奏的片段。
歌曲最终在2010年底完成，并收录在他过世后的第一张专辑《迈克尔》（Michael）里。
2011年，这首歌作为单曲发行，配发了一只歌迷参与制作的MV。
而这支原本斥巨资拍摄，以神秘化妆假面舞会为主题的前卫音乐录影，却因不明原因被雪藏，直到今天……
